Fashion has always been more than just fabric to me; it is a language. My journey began not in a boardroom, but from a childhood desire. Growing up, I was captivated by beautiful, high-quality clothing, but I often found that true luxury was either inaccessible or unaffordable. I realized early on that every woman deserves to feel confident and elegant. I promised myself that one day, I would create something different. Something that would make high-quality, fashionable clothing accessible to every woman, regardless of her budget. That became the seed for Ilis Designs.
The Foundation of Expertise
While passion sparked this journey, it is my rigorous education that sustains it. My Bachelor’s in Fashion and Apparel Designing, combined with an MBA in Retail Management, laid the foundation for a deep, technical understanding of our craft.
These years of intense study gave me a mastery of fabric blends, colour theory, and structural nuances—subtle details that are often skipped by those without deep technical knowledge. When you wear an Ilis design, you aren’t just wearing a pattern; you are wearing a garment engineered with a profound understanding of how materials breathe, move, and last.
Roots of Excellence & Early Recognition
This commitment to excellence was recognized early in my career. During my formative years, I had the privilege of showcasing my work on prestigious platforms:
National Recognition: I was honoured to participate as a designer in the National Level Khadi Fashion Show organized by Khadi Cottage.
Leadership in Design: I organized and designed exclusive garment collections for the Gardenia Annual Fest in both 2003 and 2004 , as well as the Indira Nagar Club Fashion Show in 2003.
- Accolades: My early work was celebrated with the Designer Award (2003) , the Best Designer Award (2004) , and the Chief Organizer Award (2004), affirming my dedication to both creativity and execution.
The Journey
With over 20 years of experience in the industry—working with giants like Fabindia and leading export houses— I not only learned the intricacies of the trade, from the weave of the fabric to the final stitch. But I also honed my skills in production planning and quality assurance. However, my true calling was to create something personal.
What started as a boutique focused on bridal wear quickly evolved. My customers began asking—or rather, pestering—me for everyday apparel that matched the quality of their bridal wear. You wanted fashion for every occasion, not just special ones.
Listening to you is what built this brand. I combined my background in Fashion Technology with a deep understanding of what women actually need: trendy designs, breathable fabrics, and a fit that flatters real bodies.
Our Promise
Early in my career, I witnessed a beautiful garment reach a customer with a tiny, almost invisible flaw. The disappointment in her eyes taught me something invaluable: quality isn’t just about fabric or stitching—it’s about trust. That’s why I established a rigorous “3-Loop Quality Check”. Every single garment passes through three separate stages of inspection to ensure that by the time it reaches your hands, it is flawless. We call it our promise of perfection.
Looking Ahead
Today, Ilis Designs operates from our facility in Kannur with one manufacturing location that ships directly to customers across India, cutting out the middlemen to keep our promise of affordability. But this is just the beginning. We are growing slowly and intentionally, building a strong foundation right here in Kerala before we take our vision global. Our plan is to open dedicated stores by 2027, bringing the Ilis experience closer to your home.
